Flesberg Weaving, also known as Krokbragd on Rosepath-

In Norway, this beautiful weft-faced weave is known as Flesberg. Elsewhere it’s called Krokbragd on Rosepath. No matter what it’s called, the combination of Rosepath threading with 3-shafts creates some fantastic design possibilities.

You’ll hear the lovely story behind Flesberg and get clear instructions for how to weave it. We’ll make 2 trivets from wool and cotton. There will be several color-ways and patterns for you to choose from. So you can create pieces that speak to your aesthetic.

Flesberg requires 3 shafts. So, you’ll need at least a 4-shaft loom. We’ll have a short preparatory class here at Yarn Underground if you’ve never dressed a loom before.

This two-day workshop will give us the opportunity to discuss color and design. And we’ll also touch on projects you can do at home, like rugs and cushion covers.

Materials fee of $10, payable to instructor at the beginning of class, includes:

Handout with diagrams and instructions

4-8 colors of rug wool, enough to make at least 2 trivets

A homemade temple to experiment with

Other materials to bring :

Shaft loom with 10-dent reed sleyed with 8/4 cotton rug warp, pre-purchased by students.

2-4 shuttles (stick or ski shuttles) if you have them, otherwise we’ll make “butterflies”

An 8-10 inch temple if you have one

Colored pencils if you have some. (You may share the instructor’s.)

Scissors, pencil for notes, measuring tape

Homework prior to workshop:

Loom must be warped ahead of time. Warping instructions will be available January 2nd, and emailed if you are already signed up. A short class will also be available at YU if you need help getting your loom ready, details coming soon.
