Akerworks' custom fabricated flat-pack Lazy Kate is a super versatile and customizable addition to your spinning set up. Each component is thoughtfully crafted to allow you to adjust the Kate exactly to your liking.
Each Kate is made of a solid piece of hardwood (American black cherry, hard maple, or black walnut) holding four carbon fiber shafts. Each shaft can move up and down independently to create the perfect custom angle and setup for your unique spinning needs.
The AkerKate is a tensioned Kate: each bobbin's spin may be individually tensioned using Akerwork's patented TensiTamers on each individual shaft, which provides adjustable braking tension to the bobbin. You can even use the TensiTamers to configure the AkerKate as a spindle Kate! Four are provided with each Kate and can be stored on board the Kate when not in use.
The AkerKate is compatible with all spinning wheels sold at the Yarn Underground. It can accommodate up to four jumbo bobbins up to 4.75" (121mm) diameter and 6.75" (171mm) tall. Each shaft measures 0.240" in diameter, it's compaitble with bobbins used on 1/4" flyer shafts (Ashford, Lendrum, Hansen) as well as bobbins for larger flyer shafts (Majacraft, Schacht, Kromski).
Each AkerKate comes with a protective slipcover-style sleeve made of durable canvas duck.
