Retrosaria Brusca

An interestingly crunchy and fluffy yarn, Brusca is a must-try.  Woolen spun, loose 2 ply, has interesting colors and with 50g balls, this yarn begs to be included in stripes, colorwork, or marls and is a great sweater yarn.

Put up: 136 yards in each 50g ball, no winding needed. Dk to sport weight.

This latest batch of Brusca seems a bit finer, about sport weight.

Content: 100% fine portuguese wool (50% Saloia, 50% Merino Branco and Merino Preto)

Needles: 4-5mm | US 6-8

Gauge: 19-24 sts x 27-30 rows = 4 x 4 inches | 10 x 10cm

From Retrosaria:

"Brusca is a breed and flock specific yarn. It is made of 50% Saloia and 50% Merino Branco and Merino Preto wool.Saloia is the native sheep breed to the region of Lisbon and Setúbal. It is well documented since the 19th century as its wool was one of the finest available in the country. Saloia sheep have also become famous for their milk, from which the famous Azeitão cheese was traditionally made."
